![]() | Brian HarrisOwner / Technical Director Husband, father, friend, crew chief; Brian Harris is a man of many talents and titles—mostly, he’s a man of his word. Oddly enough, titles aren’t really his thing, and that’s probably why he is as successful as he is at all that he does. Brian’s keen eye for perfection has set the bar in the composite aircraft industry. From the ground up, Brian has built his business around the basics: trust, honesty, integrity, and the good ole’ fashioned handshake. Since 1997, Brian has sculpted Composite Approach into one of the leading contract composite manufacturers in the industry; with much of our focus being in the Composite Kit Aircraft Sub-contracting business, he is continually pushing our envelope into the world of Advanced Composites as well. Born and raised in Bend, Brian has spent the majority of his life seeking every back road known to exist in Oregon. A long-time bow hunter, off-road four-wheelin’ junkie, dirt bike racer, mountain biker, pilot, and professional tinkerer, it’s a mystery how Brian finds time to sleep.
![]() | Julia HunterCOO Mother, sailor, teammate, problem-solver. Julia wears many hats, but mostly she’s someone who shows up, listens well, and helps people do their best work. Titles matter less to her than teamwork, clarity, and getting things to succeed. Originally from the U.K. but at home wherever there’s a good challenge, Julia has explored a fair bit of our planet—sailing the Pacific with her family, running in some of the coldest places on Earth, and finding ways to blend hard work with adventure. She holds a Master’s in Astrophysics and a PhD in Planetary Science.
![]() | Holly HarrisCFO / AR / AP Wife, mother, friend, crew chief to the crew chief; Holly Harris is hands down one of the nicest women on God’s green earth. Her impeccable organizational skills, stunning sense of class, and orderly detail have given new life to a side of our business that we haven’t seen in our history. Having spent 12 years as our behind-the-scenes bookkeeper, it wasn’t until the fall of 2015 that Holly decided to make it public and official. With a degree in elementary education, Holly has spent several years of her life pouring into the lives and minds of our youth. We’re thankful and blessed to have Brian’s better half here at the office!
![]() | Guy DrescherEngineering, Systems & Quality As a kid, Guy had his own drawer full of disassembled appliances—he didn’t put them back together, he just wanted to see how they worked. As he grew older he got a diverse spread of experience putting things together through construction work, dabbling in web design, a database internship, a job at Stereo Planet (setting up wiring for home stereo systems) and house framing. In school he studied computer science, then engineering physics, and ended up obtaining his degree in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University. An internship at Epic Aircraft turned into a position on staff as a mechanical design engineer. Later Guy worked for Lancair as a mechanical engineer, and then at Advanced Energy as a mechanical design engineer, which became the position of engineering manager. Fun fact: Guy first met Brian, and Mike at Father’s House, where Guy later became an associate pastor for a time. These connections led to his current position as senior mechanical engineer at Composite Approach. He appreciates that Brian offers a flexible work schedule, which is helpful for him as a husband and father of four. He also values the quality of private ownership (and with it, the absence of office politics and endless meetings and emails), as well as the fact that he has the privilege of helping to develop his position; he says, “I have more control over my destiny here.”
![]() | Morgan HunterBusiness Development & Program Management Designer, builder, engineer, tinkerer. Morgan has spent his career hands-on in aerospace—working on eVTOLs, rockets, space systems, and experimental aircraft. He’s at his best turning ideas into working hardware and guiding teams through the messy, exciting path from concept to prototype to production. From captaining sailboats on ocean passages to flying experimental aircraft as a private pilot, Morgan brings a calm, hands-on approach to both work and adventure

Company History
From an early age Brian Harris, owner of Composite Approach, would often be found taking apart clocks, microwaves, or bicycles just to put them back together again. It is now no surprise that he leads a team of craftsman, building elite composite custom aircraft, automotive, motorcycle, bicycle, and aircraft parts; custom auxiliary fuel cells; ocean drones; composite molds and plugs and anything else anyone can dream up. Harris and his team thrive on the development of new projects and the creation of streamlined manufacturing practices.
In the winter of ‘96 Harris started working for a builder assist center specializing in composite aircraft. Throughout 1997-2003 Brian traveled around the United States working on Lancair airplanes and other various composite aircraft. It is here that he gained intensive knowledge and hands-on skills for working with composites.
Projects kept coming for Harris and in 2005 he began working closely with Lancair on the development of a couple of research and development projects they were working on at the time. In 2006, they began development of the Evolution (Code named “Elvis” at the time). This was an incredible project that utilized a wide range of skills in Harris personally and in his entire crew.
“Elvis” first took flight in March of 2008 and proved to be both an incredible airplane and an instant success. Composite Approach continues to assist Lancair Evolution kit buyers in the completion of their aircraft from Build Shop to Initial Flight Testing and beyond.
As we continue to diversify our business, Composite Approach is always on the lookout to partner with both the start-up and the established alike with their advanced and classic composite needs.
